Establishment of WMC: A Strategic Vision (2019)
Our journey began in Egypt in 1993 with the establishment of International Engineering Company (IEC), a classified ‘A’ construction firm that was entrusted with delivering some of the most complex and prestigious projects across Egypt and the MENA region. Its portfolio spans hospitality, infrastructure, healthcare, and education, and includes notable accomplishments such as the Hurghada Marine Port, JW Mariott, Kom Hamada Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine at Galala University, and the renovation of Cairo Mariott Omar Al Khayam.
These achievements not only demonstrated IEC’s technical and project management capabilities but also built the credibility and financial foundation upon which WMC emerged.
Establishment of WMC
In 2019, IEC’s leadership created WMC for Investment and Project Management to expand beyond engineering into investment-led development.
WMC was conceived as a multi-sector holding and development company, focusing on strategic partnerships with leading international institutions.
WMC’s mandate is to integrate design, construction, operation, and management into a single value chain.
This allows the company not only to build infrastructure but also to operate, manage, and commercialize projects in education, healthcare, industrial facilities, and real estate. Its establishment marked a shift from being a construction executor to becoming a strategic investor and long-term operator.
Continuing our path of growth and diversification,
in 2023 we established WMC-EF in partnership with the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD).
This new entity was created to become a cornerstone of WMC’s educational vision, dedicated to managing and operating world-class educational institutions across the MENA region and Africa.
WMC-EF’s mandate extends beyond operations; it is about shaping a sustainable educational ecosystem. Through affiliations with leading international schools and universities, WMC-EF introduces globally accredited curricula, modern learning methodologies, and advanced training programs for teachers, staff, and caregivers.
